बात एक 'युवा नेता' की है जो विधायक बनकर देश की जनता खासतौर पर भोपाल की जनता की सेवा करना चाहते हैं. हाल ही में संपन्न हुए विधान सभा चुनाव में ये प्रत्याशी थे और इस वजह से इनके चीखने-चिल्लाने (भाषण) को सुनने का सौभाग्य हमें भी प्राप्त हुआ. हालाँकि ये चुनाव हार गए पर अपने बाहुबल की एक झलक ज़रूर दिखला गए. अब शायद विचार लोक सभा का चुनाव लड़ने का है इसलिए शहीदों की कुर्बानियां और बेगुनाहों की मौतें की इनको याद आ रही हैं.

जैसा की मैं पहले बता चुका हूँ कि मैं पुलिस और नेताओं से सौ हाथ कि दूरी बनाकर रहता हूँ और जिस सड़क पर ये चल रहे होते हैं वहाँ से तो मैं निकलता तक नही, तो इन महाशय के बारे में मैं सिर्फ़ सुनी-सुनाई और पढ़ी-पढ़ाई बातें कर सकता हूँ.

इनके विषय में मैंने पहली बार कक्षा ११ वी में सुना, लोग बताते थे कि इंजीनियरिंग कालेजों के अगर कोई बेताज बादशाह हैं तो ये हैं, पढ़ाई से कोई लेना देना नही, कई बार फेल हो चुके, गुंडागर्दी और मारपीट में अव्वल, कई बार बलवा करवा चुके, कई बार बाजारों पर हमला करवा चुके और कई बार ज़मानत पर छूट चुके, इनके जानने पहचानने वालों में कई नेता, अफसर, पुलिसवाले और इन्ही की बिरादरी वाले (गुंडे-बदमाश) हैं. भोपाल के किसी भी इंजीनियरिंग कालेज में अगर कुछ 'काम' हो तो इनकी शरण में जाएँ.

मुझे तो इनकी सेवाओं की कभी ज़रूरत नही पड़ी और भगवान का शुक्र है इनका और मेरा आमना सामना भी कभी नही हुआ. अलबत्ता जो मित्र इनके गुणगान करते थे उनको ज़रूर चिढा दिया जाता था की एक चार फुटिया तुमको हमसे कैसे बचाएगा.

धीरे धीरे या फ़िर बहुत तेजी से समय बीता और पता चला की महाशय ने दो/तीन(?) इंजीनियरिंग कालेज खोल लिए हैं और साथ ही साथ एक कंस्ट्रक्शन कंपनी भी खोल दी है. खेल तो तभी समझ आ गया, बंदा कांट्रेक्टर बन गया, अब बनेगा नेता. राष्ट्रीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान (एम.ऐ.एन.आई.टी.) में इन्होने संस्थान के कुछ भ्रष्ट लोगों के साथ मिलकर घोटालों की झडी लगा दी. (बात करोड़ों रुपयों के हेर-फेर की है, खैर. )

और इन घोटालों से जो पैसा मिला उससे उतर गए चुनावों में. चुनावों में भी इन्होने कोई कसर नही छोड़ी, खूब शराब बंटवाई, हजारों रूपए बांटे, झुग्गी बस्तियों के अनेकानेक दौरे किए, 'माताओं-बहनों' के बेटे बने, 'पिताओं(?)-भाइयों' का आशीर्वाद प्राप्त किया, लाला बस्ती (कायस्थों) से इन्होने जाति के आधार पर वोट मांगे, और आखिरकार दूसरे स्थान तक पहुँच ही गए.

आज इन्होने हमें बताया की हमें नववर्ष कैसे मनाना चाहिए, हमें पहली जनवरी २००९ को आतंकवाद और अपराध विरोध दिवस के रूप में मनाना चाहिए और मुंबई से मिले हुए घावों को हरा रखना चाहिए. हमें यह साबित करना चाहिए की हम जिंदा हैं!

क्या हम जिंदा हैं? अगर हम जिंदा होते तो क्या इन जैसे गुंडे-बदमाश हमें यह पट्टी पढ़ा रहे होते, अगर हम जिंदा होते तो क्या दैनिक भास्कर जैसे प्रतिष्ठित अखबार से इस तरह के हैवानियत भरे इश्तेहार छापने का हिसाब नही मांगते, अगर हम जिंदा होते तो क्या इस कार्यक्रम के 'सफल आयोजन' और 'सरकार के प्रति जन-आक्रोश' (०२/०१/२००९ के दैनिक भास्कर में पढ़ लीजिएगा यही छपेगा) का पर्दाफाश नही करते?

A Vote of Thanks: Jago Bhopal Blogger Symposium 2008

Thank you all for making this event the most successful one I have ever organized in my life. You will laugh at this statement but this is the truth.

These four responses to my words from people I don't even know, I haven't even met, are more precious to me than those from people I know. It fills you with pride that such people are there in our society who are ready to listen to strangers, it fills you with responsibility that people are listening to you, watching you, talking to you.

Since this was an unadvertised (and random) event by an unknown representative of an unknown party , I was hoping for just one response this year to continue this mission, but got four instead. Apart from the above, it also signifies that how grim the situation is, how fed people are with the system, how they are willing to change it, even run it. It hurts all of us that our country is not going in the right direction and we are unable to do anything about it. As said in 'A Wednesday', we are a part of this rot not by choice but by force.

I want to stress again the point that this problem stemmed from democracy and democracy alone can solve it. The secret ballot is the most powerful weapon in this war, nobody can tell whom have you voted, that's a power par excellence.

The main problem today however is the Crisis of Leadership, we don't have right people at the right places, I think most our problems will be solved if we can ensure this. For this people, the common citizens have to come forward to contest elections and participate actively in our polity. Nobody has probed the pulse of the citizens, Jago Party can and should be that platform, why should people be afraid or ashamed of doing something right.

The job that requires the least qualifications but has maximum impact on our lives has no takers of good people, why do we fear this job, we just have to order the bureaucracy and the government machinery that people want this get this done. They have to do it, its their job to do it and the job of people's representatives is to ensure and supervise this work and change the leaders of the teams if found inefficient. Is it a very hard job? Why don't people come forward to accept this simple fact and their responsibilities?

These four people are thus worthy of respect and a hearty thanks, because they came forward when nobody else did.

United For Terror:

OK the Mumbai attacks have at least brought unity in our country’s political parties both seem to be United FOR Terror, each issuing a new message to terrorists and Pakistan with each passing day. Here is a small compilation of these statements in form of open one-sided contract:

1. The UPA led by Congress:

1. Terrorists may attack at will, we will ensure that all our administrative and intelligence machinery will sleep, to allow them safe passage.

2. Pakistan’s foreign ministry need not worry, we will ourselves create rift between the Hindu and Muslim communities, so that our citizens may not ask hard questions from you.

3. We promise that the changes in our administrative system will be cursory, the depths where the real rot is will be left untouched.

4. We are a secular party but behind the doors we believe in the concept of ‘Transmigration of Souls’ (mentioned in Gita) and we have applied it in real life. Our Real Life Gods, our leaders ensure that whoever loses his seat is fixed at a new place (seat) as soon as possible. The Transmigration is based on loyalty to ‘The Family’.

2. The NDA led by BJP:

1. Attacks would not be tolerated especially if they are on politicians, but we promise to fulfill all the demands in cases of kidnapping and abduction.

2. Pakistan’s foreign ministry must be prepared for some random acts like we will fight while having summits, shout ‘Hot Pursuits’ and ‘Aar Paar Ki Ladaayi’ but sit over our arses, so that the confusion persist for long and we can take any stand depending on the situation.

3. We promise far reaching changes, we will make stringent laws but won’t change the system so that we can use them for our benefit, we will further polarize and crystallize prejudices against Muslims in Hindus. We will ensure the adrenaline rush so that half of people die of heart attack and the rest fighting in riots.

4. As you know our party is based on Hindu ideology, our leaders ride ‘Rathas’ (Chariots), we firmly believe in the concept of Transmigration of Souls and Seats. The Transmigration is based on person’s utility, power and money, either the profiles are changed from high to low, in some rare cases the person is kicked out from the party.

3. Hearing that we were doing a story on Terrorism (which is selling like hot cakes nowadays), many other important politicians contacted us, here is a compilation of what they have to say:

1. We promise to disrespect the country.

2. We promise to disrespect its martyrs and true leaders.

3. We promise to disrespect its people as and when possible, in as many ways possible.

4. We promise to create hullabaloo during election days and first few days of any crisis, rest of the days we will do what we are best at doing. (details of this work have to be filled by the reader!)

So friends this is a small compilation of our political parties’ stand on our war on terror where we are not united against terror but UNITED FOR TERROR, take it in writing the next attack is very near.

[a little explanation of the title: I saw this photo and the question that came to my mind was Are they standing at gates so that they can jump out. ]

Well from past two days Indian railways has clouded my thinking I want to get over it so I am writing this.

The news of paper leak didn’t shock me that much as we have seen papers of CAT, IAS, PSC leak all over the country in the past decade or so, this is just a small paper. But then the light in my mind lit, the exam was for assistant loco pilot( don’t know what’s that it is Assistant ENGINE DRIVER), a chill went down my spine. Now my mind raced, here are some questions I asked to myself:

1. This is just one case, the person (culprit) might be involved in many other paper leaks and many would be serving in the railways already, what about that?

2. Can we rely on railways and its employees for a safe journey, what’s the guarantee that a ‘leaked-paper’ selected loco-driver will not misread a signal?

3. If the questions in the exam are testing general awareness and mental ability and have no connection to the job why even bother for an exam, recruit on a draw of lots with eligibility criteria of board exam results/ degree results.

4. Why every big leader from Bihar wants to keep Railway Ministry, is it because most people who appear in these exams are from Bihar and UP, with a large scale recruitment racket charging 2-4 lakhs from each candidate operating, this is a very lucrative business, and it is important to keep it under wraps.

5. Shouldn’t the Railway Minister be charged with homicide the next time a train accident happens?

6. The Indian Railways carry daily crores of passengers, is it not God’s grace that no major accidents have taken place on large numbers?

7. WHY PEOPLE ARE STILL SLEEPING? ANY DAY THEY WILL DIE DUE TO CORRUPTION AND OTHERS WILL BLAME BAD LUCK OR HUMAN ERROR FOR IT. GO AHEAD SLEEP, EVEN KUMBHKARAN CAN'T BEAT YOUR RECORD; EVEN I AM GOING TO SLEEP.

WHO AM I & WHY AM I HIDING MY IDENTITY?

I am an ordinary man like who felt enough is enough after the Mumbai Terror Attacks, thought of working to clean the dirt in our country and its systems. I felt that in Democracy Politics is the thing that controls and is capable of making far reaching changes.

For this I thought of forming a new political party with like minded people, I searched the net to know whether someone has already initiated the mission of rebuilding our nation, I came to know about Jago Party, became an active member that very moment. I didn’t want to dissipate my anger to different places and disrespect myself. I didn’t want to fight battles on TV but a war in reality, once and for all.

This is the context where my real identity subsided and I became Latent Dissent, how and why I came to this decision read ahead

If I tell you that I am from Bhopal, am 25 years old and support liberalism you would focus on my words and ideas, but if I add to that my name you would consider my views in the context of my religion and caste, adding occupation would further complicate the picture, I want to talk to you on the condition of our country not myself, that’s the first reason.

The second reason is that, the moment you talk of joining politics to make a change, people start imagining you as a selfish person who wants to fulfill his personal ambitions through politics, there is nothing wrong in the attitude, even I am skeptic of anyone who shows such inclinations, the reason is we have been cheated emotionally so many times by our politicians that we don’t want any further responsibilities of creating yet another scoundrel.

I further accept that I am no expert in the field, but my intentions are very clear on the issue, much better than many experts of this field. I want to change my country for good, I am doing, I am trying my best, THE TURN IS YOURS !

RURAL-URBAN DEBATE ON JAGO PARTY:

I recently read someone discussing building up Jago Party from the ‘grassroots’ that is rural areas, he gave some plan for gram, janpad, zila level working of the party. Respecting his effort on the issue, I beg to differ on this issue.

First taking a look at the history of various political parties, we can say that almost all of them originated from urban centers. Leave apart that, even Jago Party is basically an urban party and being one its core strength is in urban youth.

We all know that all wars are fought and won based on Core Strength, if one’s core strength is powerful and surprising enough the other party looses. People think that since the rural India forms about 65-70 percent of population whatever they do, it will not affect the voters in rural areas. This is a wrong way of looking at it; we are missing the point by diverting attention to an unrelated issue.If rural population is 70 percent then 30 percent is urban. Agree, now the 30 percent comprise of 5 percent high income, 5 percent high-mid income, 5 percent low-mid income and rest 15 low income. I have chosen income because urban areas don’t have the barriers of Caste that strong. So, I am talking to the top 10 percent category now, naturally you might be using services of the lower 10 percent category in the form of domestic helps, dhobis, electricians, plumbers, etc. Even at work place you may have an interaction with them.

The next time you pass you baais or dhobis, just ask them ‘to which place they belong? And are they in touch with the place?’, urban places are made up from a migrated population, all of its residents have their roots somewhere in the rural India.(ask your parents). You will be surprised to know that not only are they well connected to their places, there is a constant exchange of information going on between them, the issues of urban India are reported and the condition and issues of rural India be reported back

This interaction can swing the real public opinion of India in very less time as it now uses mobile phones; watches satellite DTH TV, unlike yesteryears. They also learn from you and me, if you have a large shelf of books in your house they start spending more on their children’s education, if you have computer they start sending them to computer classes. As I’ve said elsewhere we must not see and treat them as passive creatures, they are seeing, listening, and emulating our behavior. They too think on the political issues like you and me and rely on somebody else to choose for them the right party, which more often than not is the village elder-man like our family heads.

Coming back to our topic, if we are able to influence even 10 percent of urban India take it from me more than 20 percent of rural India would be aware of our activities. Also (though sadly) the media attention is more in urban centers so your meager 10 percent efforts too will not go unnoticed. So we must focus on our strengths, what we are good at doing, not trying something new initially, when we are confident about the foundation then only can we build up a structure.

SEVERELY RETARDED: THE CONDITION OF INDIA’S INTELLIGENCE AGENCIES.

For the past few days we have seen a spurt in the warnings issued by the Intelligence Agencies. Terrorists have formed sleeper cells, they will attack Red Fort, they will attack Gujarat, they will attack Jamnagar Refinery, they will attack through Air, they will attack important locations in Eastern India. And so on. I want to ask what the hell is going on?

They are issuing the warning letters as if they are appreciation letters to the bureaucrats. By putting our forces and administration on high alert throughout the country, we are not only increasing the stress levels of them but the people as a whole. If nothing happens or fruitful comes out of this, the next time these reports will not be paid attention which may prove fatal. (heard the story of the boy who shouted bhediya aaya to tease people and then was caught one day without any help)

I am no expert in this field but this I know for sure that the intelligence agencies succeed in their duty and work only if they provide specific and accurate information, otherwise there is no difference between them and the Rumour Mongers. I think why not book them for spreading rumours, if their information is false, at least we will have some accountability, when all we know of them is they are the ‘khoofiya sootra/strot/agency’, ‘vishvasht sootra/strot’.

Stop Piracy. Why?

Piracy is stealing; it kills the industry associated with it. But it poses a greater threat, most of the pirated music and film business runs from Pakistan. Their websites as well as people earn money that belongs both legally and ethically with Indian Music and Film Industry.

But our industry is also at fault, they don’t listen to what the people are saying. Can you compete with a Free of Cost Download or a Cheap DVD by calling it illegal? No. The problem is first you yourself steal tunes, stories, etc. from somewhere else without paying royalty. Then you hide the actual cost of making the movie/album and financial sources thereof. Adding to that, you fail to understand the Demand and Supply.

Most trade analyst agree that the Film Industry now runs on the first three days. Why can’t you release the DVD or telecast it online or put it up on Movie On Demand channels of various DTH that are available on the fourth day. Plus the price of many DVDs is still prohibitive. You don’t give the customer a choice and call his actions flawed. Make the services available and people will turn to you. Nobody likes to steal, with proper awareness campaign more and more people will join in.

Similar is the case of Music Industry. The Technology has all changed but even before that people preferred Top 10 or Double albums than whole album. It is fooling yourself to say each and every album has all 8-10 songs perfect and likeable. Often there are only a couple of songs people want from your album nobody has the time or patience to analyze your album. Whatever pleases the person is in rest all is out. Coming to technology people now are keeping their songs on ipods, computers and mobile phones. The game of Tapes and CDs is gone. The Music Industry should start selling music online, that too individual song not the complete album (they can even have special offers for complete albums) at right cost. Start doing this and see people coming to you automatically.

What have they to loose. Music Albums and movies are made available for downloads the same day what do you gain from it? The person or rather country that gains from our efforts is Pakistan. THINK AGAIN !

I am child of a corrupt person. Now what?

With corruption a way of life now, a non existing issue now, we all a part of this great ‘Chakki’ (grinder). I find the concept of Karma useful here.

You are responsible for your acts and not others’. Hindu mythology has a number of stories that deal with the issue. A solution was seen recently seen in the movie Rang De Basanti. Nobody is asking you to kill your parents, but try not to use the money or try to do some good work with it rather than conspicuously consuming it on yourself. Try to explain to them that you don’t need that much money.

Also remember they have lived their lives based on their principles, we can never understand the conditions they grew with. But we are responsible for our future and the coming generations, do you want your child ponder over this question, ASK AGAIN.

America is Unreliable. Why?

Whatever people claim, the reality is that USA funded Al Qaida and Taliban which turned into a menace. Even now, in lieu of the Pakistan’s support of War on Terror they are giving away million of dollars. Will they disclose the accounts that show what is happening to that money. Even the Iraq War started with the issue of WMD but it was part of their Oil Diplomacy.

War with Pakistan: Not now. Why?

First, proof is not out there. Then, as we are facing, Pakistan could also have disconnect between the government and the citizens. Even if we consider Pakistan guilty of the attack, we must also consider the scale of operation. They might have researched a number of loopholes in our system, bought off a couple of officers, consider the aftermath of attacking them. The whole world will laugh at us, let us first clean our house then take on the external enemies.

Politics is the field of scoundrels. Not correct.

The scoundrel line is the triumph card of those in politics. Through it they can keep away people from politics thereby reducing competition and securing a place for their generations to come. Also by doing this, they can do whatever they want without any accountability.

The onus is on us to break this code.

Information Technology can change our politics. How?

First, you are reading this blog so its impact and reach can’t be doubted. Then the advertising cost can be severely cut through it. It can also help bringing in transparency as every step of politics and governance can be debated and discussed on it. Even the choice of candidate can be made on it.

Nobody has tried or proved it cannot be done, so we can try it. Remember, the smallest action is much better than the noblest intention.

A Faceless Party. Why?

The whole sub-continent is suffering from the problem of Family-based parties. Rather than focusing on What one has currently done, emotive statements are made of sacrifices made in distant past. Moreover, sacrifice is made voluntarily; nobody pushes one to it. If people want to show their respect they will. What kind of person are you if you sell the sacrifices of your near and dear ones. (N.B. Mark the difference between the People and the Government, their roles are different in such cases).

A Faceless Party is one where any ordinary citizen can become an MLA/MP based on his qualities and qualifications, not by serving the narrow self-interests of an individual or a group of individuals.

As the people are faceless so should be their party.

Narendra Modi style of leadership will do no good. Why?

It is based on fear. He instills confidence because all other leaders are simply non-leaders. It’s like ‘Andhon me kana Raja’.

Fear feeds on fear. Everyday new stories will be floated about some sleeper cells, bombs will be discovered, rights and freedom will slowly be usurped by the State. A kind of dictatorship will run with our permission. It is not imagination this has happened everywhere in world even think for a second what happened in Gujarat.

Before criticizing me think if you wish to visit the Ram Mandir (if ever built because the issue dies with its construction) in Ayodhya. I don’t.

Politicians’ passing the buck to Bureaucracy and Police is unacceptable. Why?

Politicians are elected to lead the government; they are people’s representatives in the government, they have authority to choose their team and if team fails the leader goes, as simple as that. If you didn’t have the strength to control the department leave the chair, let other do the job.

SMSing and Candle Vigils are good only for TV cameras. Why?

As the candle will burn out, so will your patience. Your whole effort and emotion will get wasted without making any worthwhile change in the polity. For TV channels too, some other issue will crop up. Kindly note that I was myself in front row to sms my views but this time I thought of becoming active, taking things in my hand.

To make a dent in politicians’ contempt of citizens (along with the bureaucrats’/policemen’s arrogance) we have to hit at their weakest point POLITICS. Join Politics, take active interest in it or be prepared for worst.
